I JUMPED FROM A FRYING PAN(JOB) INTO FIRE(NETWORK MARKETING)
How I turned from:
- Zero to hero
- From nobody to somebody
- From nothing to something
- From being a slave to being a master
My name is Sonko Sulaiman Hassan. I am a Ugandan; I do network marketing both online and offline. Both my parents never went to schools. For that matter, my father told me to go to school on their behalf thinking that; by me going to school, I will live a dynamic life after graduation. When I graduated in computer science, I was very lucky because I got a job immediately in one of the corporate telecommunication companies in Uganda. I worked for 11 months, and I realized I could not achieve my dreams on a job, the more I worked, the poorer I became. I started looking for opportunities around Uganda and online. Later on, my friend told me about network marketing opportunity. He invited me for a meeting in a hotel and I was shocked when I saw all categories of people in the room listening to a presentation. My mind told me immediately that, it seems all people can join the opportunity. The presenter of the day did a presentation I had never seen. He used Robert Kiyosaki’s cash floow quadrant to show us the reason as to why we needed to join network marketing. I was very excited at the end of the presentation, and I was very ready to join the business.
The following are the reasons as to why a chose to join network marketing on the first day:
- I joined to make an extra income.
- To retire early, young, and rich
- I was tired of being a slave for money.
- I wanted to be my own boss
- I wanted to travel the world with the company I was joining.
- Lastly, I wanted to be a motivational speaker like the person who presented to us on that day.
The above six points summarizes why I joined network marketing. I will not tell you that it was a walk over, like any other business, things usually don’t work straight a way. It takes time for the business to take off. I started talking to people about my business and my products but it was hard making them join my business. They had excuses like: when you succeed we shall join you, those things can only be done by people with enough time, I cannot sell, I have a nice paying job. At a certain point I lost guts, but one day I attended a motivational experience and one of the company’s international vice-presidents Rico Brown made a statement that changed my attitude towards network marketing. He said, “for the thirty five years I have been in network marketing, I have never seen anyone failing, people just quit before succeeding but they don’t fail.” That is the only thing I learnt on that day. The following morning I was very enthusiastic, excited, and motivated to do the business with one heart. I took massive action and I started taking steps in my company. Am not at the top level in my company now, but am happy to see my dreams coming to pass.
